Luxury Ski Holidays In St Moritz

St Moritz is at the heart of the upper Engadin – the remote, high valley of the En, which becomes the Austrian Inn (as in Innsbruck). The valley bottom is filled by a chain of lakes, one of which separates the two parts of St Moritz. On a steep hillside above the lake, St Moritz Dorf is the fashionable main town. Beside the lake is the more ordinary spa resort, St Moritz Bad. The skiing is in several separate sectors; only one, Corviglia, is reachable directly from the resort.

Glacier Express Ski

A Classic scenic winter train journey the iconic Glacier Express links two of the world's big name ski resorts, Zermatt in Valais and fashionable St Moritz in Graubünden. En route the Glacier Express glides through Andermatt, in Uri, one of the newest resorts. Panoramic carriages invite in spectacular views of snow capped mountain peaks and sparkling white valleys dotted with picture postcard wooden chalets. Then you catch your breath as you cross the immense Landwasser Viaduct, whilst climbing from the Rhine Gorge high over the Oberalp Pass.

The slowest express train in the world, the Glacier Express departs daily taking under 8 hours, with a leisurely lunch served onboard. This tour can be taken in either direction and an optional extension is to stop for a few nights to ski or ride Andermatt before continuing on your journey.
