From the bustling ski village of Westendorf all the way to the tiny village of Going, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental offers phenomenal skiing in Tyrolean Alps. Linking nine quaint Austrian villages, this ski area was the brainchild of some ambitious local families some 40 years ago and originally it was thought that their dreams couldn’t possibly be achieved. However, thanks to over 0.5Billion Euro’s worth of investments, today this area is not only one of the most picturesque in the world for your next skiing or snowboarding holiday, but it also covers a large area with 294 kilometres of runs and some of the most impressive facilities in the world.

Here are just 10 things you can do in the area:

1. Go night skiing

The night skiing area in Söll offers a truly unique experience. With over 10 kilometres of floodlit slopes, this is Austria’s largest night skiing area. Enjoying a snowboard or ski through the darkness while twinkling lights lead your way and snow-covered trees line your path, is an adventure you won’t soon forget. The views over the town of Söll from the slopes are also simply breathtaking at night – there isn’t another experience quite like it!

2. Fun parks

Just when you thought skiing couldn’t get any more fun! SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is home to four amazing fun parks catering to a range of skill levels. Beginners can test their skills on small jumps while there is even a pro park with rails, roller and funbox for the more experts. Dotted around the ski area you will also find giant slaloms, a ski parcour area and speed measurement runs.

3. Tobogganing

Fantastic tobogganing runs can be found in Ellmau and Söll with the longest sledding run measuring a whopping 4.5km long. With permanent snow making on the runs, you can get your thrills during the day or even at night at some of the runs are floodlit for the ultimate experience!

4. Stay in an igloo

The ALPENIGLU® village is a sight to behold. Located at the top of the gondola from Brixen im Thale, ALPENIGLU® offers a fantastic ice bar that is the perfect place to stop and relax when you need a break from the slopes. You can take a tour of the village to see the stunning ice sculptures found inside or you can even enjoy an overnight experience in your very own igloo including a fondue dinner on an ice table and an ice-carving lesson!

5. Snow experiences for kids

Families will absolutely love Wilder Kaiser with so much on offer for little ones! Families can enjoy their own transferable tickets while ski schools for all ages can be found in each town. A number of family-friendly parks are found around the ski area with rides, lifts and slopes especially for children while kids will be dazzled by the witches who put on a show for them!

6. Events

Boasting some of the best après-ski in the world, this area of Austria offers some great evening entertainment! Enjoy the skiing night show every Monday in Ellmau, hop to an evening bar for some live music, dance the night away at the ALPENIGLU® ice party, take a tour of some famous movie sites or enjoy curling or ice-skating with the family!
